Kayak Guides - All Levels

As a Certified Kayak Guide, you will work independently and in collaboration with other guides and support staff to ensure our guests have an exceptional and safe experience while on tours.

Guiding positions are fulltime seasonal May – September (we can be flexible, but priority is given to candidates able to work the entire season and specifically the busy months of July and August).

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be a certified SKGABC Assistant Overnight, Level 2 or 3 kayak guides. We will also consider Level 1 guides who are interested in supplementing their schedule with additional office/support duties.

Requirements for guides:

  • Valid certification and in good standing with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC (or equivalent)
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 (can be obtained after hiring)
  • Class 5 Driver’s Licence (can be obtained after hiring)
  • Legally able to work in Canada (prior to being hired)
  • Ability to attend pre-season staff training dates

Additionally, guides are expected to have or develop the following skills:

  • Natural history and interpretation
  • Good safety judgement and outdoor leadership
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and communication
  • Food-prep and cooking

Guest & Support Services Specialists

As Guest & Support Services Specialists, you will work directly with our guiding & management teams to ensure our guests have an exceptional experience from the first moment of contact.

Service Specialist positions are seasonal April – September (we can be flexible, but priority is given to candidates able to work the entire season.)

Requirements for Guest & Support Services Specialists:

  • Knowledge & experience working with computer systems such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Google Sheets & Google Calendar
  • Post secondary education or training in Outdoor Recreation or Business Administration would be considered an asset
  • Physically capable of assisting with tour departures which can include the partnered lifting of kayaks weighing up to 55kg

Our Guest & Support Services Specialists will be expected to: 

  • Greet all guests upon arrival
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed prior to tour departures
  • Take on a variety of roles to ensure the successful departure and return of all tours including preparing reservations, administering waivers, food preparation, tour & office clean up, as well as tour check ins & the outfitting of guests
