The sheltered waters of the Ucluelet harbour offer the ideal location for an introduction to sea kayaking. Our tours depart right from the beach at our Vancouver Island kayaking centre. We may paddle up to a beautiful hidden waterfall, visit the local fish hatchery, or explore the inner boat basin.
The harbour is full of wildlife; watch for black bears along the shoreline, rich intertidal life beneath your kayak and eagles circling overhead. Harbour seals pop their heads up to watch us paddle by and sea lions call from the fishing docks along the water’s edge. Historic old pre-wartime houses, big steel fishing boats and old wooden trollers tell the story of this quaint fishing village.
Ucluelet is one of the most accessible ports on the west coast of Vancouver Island, where you can experience the geography, the rich sea life, abundant wildlife, and have an excellent opportunity to get out paddling.
Harbour Tours operate as weather allows.
Tour operates at 9:00 am & 1:00 pm.
*Please note there is a minimum of 4 guests required for the tour to run.

Majestic Ocean Kayaking has been leading tours on the west coast of Vancouver Island since 1993. Our kayak guides are well-equipped, trained, and practiced in the use of a variety of safety equipment and procedures. We hold all the required permits set out by Parks Canada and BC Parks, and are always respectful of their guidelines for operation. Our guides are all experienced kayakers, highly qualified, and certified to the standards required by the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia, including current wilderness first aid certification. They are all experienced outdoors people who lead and participate in their own trips and adventures in the off season. They know the best areas to paddle, and also the tricks of our weather.
All of our guests will be given a demonstration of our equipment, a lesson on basic paddling strokes and skills, and an explanation of safety procedures. We provide our guests with all the necessary equipment to outfit a kayak safely, including a PFD, sprayskirt and pump. Your guide will lead the tour and is in charge of safety at all times. We travel as a group and always stay close together; any guests having difficulty paddling will receive extra assistance. Our guides are experienced at leading tours to suit both novice and experienced paddlers alike, ensuring that everyone will enjoy their tour.
Majestic Ocean Kayaking guests venture here from around the world to see what British Columbia kayaking is all about, and to experience one of the most beautiful places on the planet. We are a first class destination for international nature lovers, situated within our coastal temperate rainforest and amongst incredibly diverse wildlife.
Majestic Ocean Kayaking tours range from short harbour explorations to multiday adventures; all catered with delicious gourmet meals prepared by our in-house chef. Our ocean kayaking tours allow guests to explore the rugged beauty of the west coast and to share our passion for paddling, wildlife, great food and good company.
Our trips are fun and educational, with a conscious regard for safety and for our environmental impact on the land and water at all times. As stewards of these precious ecosystems, we set an example by closely following national park policies, as well as our own high ethical standards, in order to minimize our impact on the environment.
In all aspects of our business, from our kayaking tours, guides, office staff, food, landscaping, and our purchasing decisions, we are constantly striving to improve and make our practices more sustainable and environmentally sound. We welcome all feedback and suggestions. Best known for our personalized service and attention to detail, we strive to act with consciousness and compassion in our dealings with our guests, our employees and all our suppliers.
Pick up a paddle and find a bit of freedom for yourself - the adventure of a lifetime awaits!
At Majestic Ocean Kayaking, we take our role as environmental stewards seriously. We keep to established tent sites and trails, compost our food waste, and dispose of all garbage responsibly. We follow Leave-No-Trace principles in the backcountry, storing food out of reach of wildlife, and minimizing campfire impacts. We respect all wildlife that we encounter; keeping in mind that sightings are precious to our guests, but always maintaining a respectful and safe distance.
We are proud to support the work of local conservation and naturalist groups such as the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, Tofino Shorebird Society, the Central West Coast Forest Society and the Wild Pacific Trail. We regularly get our hands dirty by organizing and participating in beach cleanups in the areas that we visit. We are also very proud of our role as educators. We enjoy sharing our knowledge of the natural and cultural histories of the areas we work in, while teaching our guests about minimum impact philosophies and practices that they can carry forward to use in their own lives and travels.
We LOVED it!! We had so much fun. What a great way to bond with the family! Loved seeing the richness in flora and fauna - especially the cute Harbour Seals that would pop up to check our kayaks out at least once a day.
