Majestic
Ocean Kayaking Day Trip to Barkley Sound
Thank you for your interest in our Barkley Sound kayaking
day trip.
The tour starts off with a 45 minute drive in our comfortable
15 passenger van along with your guide and gourmet picnic lunch
towing our trailer load of kayaks. On route to the launch site
guests will have the opportunity to take in the scenery of the
area, possibly some wildlife along the Maggie Lake forest road,
and then Toquart Bay beach/kayak launch site.
Toquart Bay beach is located in a sheltered bay with wonderful
views of the inner islands of Barkley Sound. Our guide prepares
everyone for a day of adventure. Kayaks are set up for each person,
seats adjusted, pedals adjusted. Lessons are given and safety
concerns and procedures are explained.
The guide leads the tour and is in charge of safety at all
times. Clients having difficulty paddling will receive extra
assistance, those capable and confident will enjoy the tour,
the ocean and the scenery. We travel as a group and stay close
together, if there is a slow paddler we must wait for them, strong
paddlers must stay with the group.
After a few hours in the morning we will stop on one of the
nearby sandy beaches for a gourmet buffet lunch. Build your own
bagel sandwich with a selection of; black forest ham, 2 different
kinds of cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, home made cookies,
fruit, hot drinks or juice.
As the day progresses,
wildlife such as eagles, shore birds, sea lions, seals, mink,
river otters, and possibly whales will be sighted. We will weave
in and out of the many islands and get in close to look at everything.
We will return to our launch site at around 3:30 in the afternoon,
from there we will drive back to Ucluelet with an estimated arrival
time of 5:00 pm.
What to bring on the tour:
Sandals, Hat, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Camera, binoculars. Any
extra clothing that you may wish to bring. Quick dry or light
comfortable pants that you can roll up. You will need to step
into the water when you are getting into the kayak. (We will
give you a dry bag to protect your belongings from getting wet).
