Our Team & Story

Our home is here in Ucluelet, a quiet fishing village located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Ucluelet is the gateway to the paddlers paradise of Barkley Sound; a spectacular area that features the Broken Group Islands Unit of the Pacific Rim National Reserve. The vast wilderness and ancient temperate rainforests of Clayoquot Sound lie to our north west. With its abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery, Barkley Sound and Clayoquot Sound offer unforgettable kayaking on Vancouver Island.

We have made Ucluelet our home because it is so friendly and unhurried. Our company started here in Ucluelet in 1993 founded by Tracy Eeftink, when the logging and fishing industries were in decline. At that time, the little town was not used to seeing kayakers and most tourists were visiting Tofino. Tracy decided to start Majestic Ocean Kayaking in Ucluelet because of the proximity to the Broken Group Islands and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve; knowing that people would want to experience the beauty of that area. Tracy now operates this growing company, which includes Majestic Ocean Bed & Breakfast, side by side with her husband Ted Eeftink.

Tracy has been a Certified Kayak Guide since 1995. She was a National Marathon Canoe Racer, and a ski instructor at Whistler for 15 years. Tracy was on the board of directors of the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia for 13 years, and named by them as “Godmother” for her contribution to shaping British Columbia's professional sea kayaking practices.  Currently Tracy is the Chairperson for the newly formed Ucluelet Tourism Association, and a director for the Wild Pacific Trail Board, these Societies have been formed to bring more tourists seeking adventure to our little town.

When Tracy is not busy kayaking or skiing, she is travelling. Her travels have taken her to Patagonia, Antarctica, Mexico, USA, Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, several countries in Europe and several of the Hawaiian islands. Awarded by the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce as 'Business Person of the Year', she will take a personal interest in making sure that you, your family and your friends have a truly memorable kayaking adventure.  Together with her Husband Ted, they contribute regularly to the Pacific Rim Whale Festival, the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce and the Wild Pacific Trail.

Ted Eeftink is also an owner of Majestic Ocean Kayaking. Ted’s local knowledge and seamanship abilities come from his lifetime of experience and training and living on the west coast. Ted was born in Ucluelet, raised his 2 sons in Ucluelet and is a certified kayak guide, with first aid and rescue training. Ted runs the company with his wife Tracy; looking after all equipment and site maintenance, as well as the Majestic kayak rental business. Ted is the Ucluelet Fire Chief and has volunteered for the Ucluelet fire brigade for 20+ years.

Our guides are exceptional. They come from a variety of professions and backgrounds and each bring a real passion for kayaking and exploring the west coast.

All of our guides are certified with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia and are trained in wilderness first aid and safety procedures specific to our operation. All guides are experienced outdoor leaders, skilled in kayaking, back country travel, and responsible environmental practices with an abundance of knowledge on the area, history and wildlife. Our guides each have a remarkable sense of pride in their leadership abilities.

We are so proud that our guides continually upgrade their training and work on expanding their knowledge, skills and abilities.
