About Us...
Our home is here in the Village of Ucluelet, on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Ucluelet is a quiet fishing village and gateway to Barkley Sound.
Barkley Sound waters are renowned for kayaking.

Our company started here in Ucluelet in 1993. We have made Ucluelet our home because it is so friendly and unhurried. The Pacific Rim National Park has preserved much of the wilderness area around Ucluelet. You don't see high-rise hotels when you paddle around here. We pride ourselves on the environmental quality of the tours that the area lends itself to.

Meet the Majestic Team

Our guides each have a remarkable sense of pride in their leadership abilities. They continually work on expanding their knowledge, their skills and their abilities to lead a great tour.

Each of our guides are Certified Sea Kayak Guides with wilderness first aid. We are members of the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of' British Columbia. VHF radio certification and licencing is a prerequisite to our jobs. All are experienced outdoors leaders of ecotourism with an abundance of knowledge in the area, history and wildlife. We love to teach all aspects of kayaking, safety, water skills and camping.

Our Boss

Tracy Eeftink is the founder of Majestic Ocean Kayaking which started in 1993. She operates this growing company with the help of her husband Ted Eeftink. Tracy has been a Certified Kayak Guide by the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia since 1995. She was a National Marathon Canoe Racing 3rd place winner in 1986. She has spent a lot of time paddling the lakes, rivers and ocean around British Columbia. She has participated in courses such as canoe instructor, white water rescue, white water paddling, and ocean kayaking leadership. Tracy was a ski instructor at Whistler for 15 years but now spends her time on the local mountains skiing for fun.

Tracy is also a natural Ecotourism leader who cares about your safety and fun. The company started in Ucluelet in 1993 when the logging and fishing was in a turmoil. The little town wasn’t used to seeing kayakers, most tourists were visiting Tofino. I decided to start the kayak company in Ucluelet because of the proximity to the Broken Group islands and the Pacific Rim National Park, I knew that people would want to experience the beauty of our area.

Awarded by the Ucluelet Chamber of Commerce as 'Business Person of the Year' in 1994, she is a born tour organizer. Call Tracy and she will take a personal interest in making sure that you, your family and your friends have a memorable kayaking adventure.

Recently Tracy has been named "Godmother for the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia".

The Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia was formed in the early 1990's by a group of outfitters in British Columbia in response to growing safety concerns in a rapidly expanding industry. The Alliance has over 300 members and is working hard to ensure that guides are certified and have ongoing professional development opportunities, and that the industry as a whole evolves to reflect its growth and importance in British Columbia's economy.
Dave Quinn/Adventure Kayak Magazine, summer 2004.

Tracy was a on the board of directors for the Alliance for 13 years. "Being involved with the Alliance has enabled me to stay on top of changes within the industry, I have had the opportunity to work with various proffessionals, networking to develop standards of excellence".

When Tracy is not busy kayaking or skiing she is travelling. Her travels have taken her to South America, Antarctica, Mexico, part of the USA, Japan, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia and Europe.

Ted Eeftink is one of the owners of Majestic Ocean Kayaking.  Ted’s knowledge of the area and his seamanship abilities come from his lifetime of experience, being a part of coastal life.  Ted was born in Ucluelet, he is a retired mechanic and is now a certified kayak guide, with first aid and rescue training.  Ted runs the company with his wife Tracy and looks after the equipment maintenance and the kayak rentals.
